It was an article about solar power which directed my attention onto photovoltaic in November 2005. Until this day, for me, this kind of producing electricity was the working area of eco-freaks and idealistic people only. In this time I knew only one solar generator. It belongs to my brother-in-law, and I was looking at it only with a smile on my face because its max. power output of 2kW. Well, at my job with wind energy converters I work with machines with a power output up to 6000kW and it was unbelievable for me that a solar generator pays well except the good feeling of doing a good thing for the environment. This article let me listen attentively. Until this day I didn't know how high the payment for the electricity is and I was very surprised about amount of the compensation. But I did not think about it anymore until I talked with a workmate about photovoltaic in January 2006. He told me about the solar generator of a relative. If his roof would be suitable he would install a generator himself but unfortunately his roof was not.

So I started to collect information about photovoltaic and learned that I would not become rich but can earn a nice pocket money. A lot of good information I found in the German "Photovoltaikforum". At the end of February I started to ask different companies to make an offer for a photovoltaic generator. I was looking for the best offer until the end of April. At the April 25th I signed the order for a photovoltaic generator.

After this step I had to register at the local energy supplier, the EWE, and at the tax office. The registration was very quick and unbureaucratic at the EWE, but at the tax office, for me as layman, it was a lot more complicated. I had to call a tax consultant to remove the obscurities.

The installation of the solar generator started at the 29th of May and already at the 31st of May the plant was approved and connected to the grid.

Now the Sun is working for me!
